AN IRON QUILL PUBLISHING IMPRINT
Words From The Forge.
A place for independent poets and writers who don't have a publisher behind them. Every featured book gets read in full and gets an honest written review — not a blurb, not a rating out of five.
Faith-based work first. Clean-language work of any kind is welcome.
THE SHOWCASE
Books read and reviewed.
Every title here was read start to finish. Select a cover to find the book.
HOW IT WORKS
Read first. Reviewed either way.
The review is free and it is not a trade. Nothing is required of a writer in exchange for being read.
Send the book +
Email a copy in any readable format — PDF, EPUB, or a paperback link. Include the title, your name or pen name, where readers can buy it, and anything you want mentioned alongside the review.
It gets read in full +
Not skimmed, not summarized from the blurb. Poetry collections and short works are usually turned around faster than full-length prose. You will hear back either way.
The review goes up +
Featured titles appear in the showcase above with the cover, a written review, your name, and a direct link to buy the book from wherever you sell it. Iron Quill takes no cut of your sales and does not ask for rights to your work.
Some books get a podcast feature +
Selected writers are invited onto Sips & Scripts to talk about the work and read from it. The written review happens regardless — the episode is an addition, never a replacement.
Honest means honest +
A review may point out what did not work. If a book is not a fit for this audience, it is declined privately rather than published negatively. Reviews are never bought, and no payment, purchase, or anthology participation influences whether a book is featured or what the review says.
SUBMIT YOUR BOOK
Open to independent writers.
Fill in the form below and send the work straight through. There is no fee and no catch.
What this imprint is looking for +
Poetry, devotionals, short prose, essays, and full-length fiction or non-fiction. Faith-based work is the heart of it. Work that is not explicitly faith-based is welcome as long as it is clean. Self-published and small-press titles are the point — you do not need a publisher to be considered.
The content standard +
No explicit sexual content, no graphic violence written for its own sake, and no pervasive profanity. Difficult subjects — grief, addiction, abuse, doubt, war — are welcome and handled seriously. The standard is about how something is written, not what it is about.
What you keep +
Everything. You keep full copyright and every right to your work. Featuring a book grants Iron Quill permission to display the cover, quote briefly from the text in the review, and link to where it is sold. Ask and the feature comes down.
Sending a printed copy +
Digital is preferred, and not for our convenience: a file costs you nothing to send and gets read sooner. If your work only exists in print, that is completely fine and it will be read the same way.
Tick the print copy box on the form and we will reply with the mailing address. It is not published here, which keeps it out of the hands of every scraper on the internet.
Printed copies are not returned. Please do not send your only copy, and please do not include return postage.
What to include +
The book itself, a short author bio, your buy link, and your website or social handles. If a release date is coming up, say so — reviews can be timed to it.
COMING
The Words From The Forge anthology.
A printed collection gathering work from writers featured by this imprint. Contributor spots are limited and selective — submissions are read and not all are accepted. Contributors receive printed copies, a full contributor page with their bio and links, and a share of the listing.
Details, cost, and the opening date will be announced here and to writers already featured in the showcase. Email midnightforgenyc@gmail.com with Anthology in the subject line to be told first.
DISCLOSURE
Where the money is, and is not.
Reviews are free and independent +
Iron Quill does not charge to read, review, or feature a book, and does not accept payment to write a favorable one. The anthology is a separate, paid opportunity. Paying for an anthology spot does not buy a review, and a review does not obligate anyone to join the anthology.
Affiliate and sales links +
Buy links point to the writer's own storefront or retailer page. Iron Quill receives nothing from a featured writer's sales unless a separate publishing or audiobook service agreement exists, which is disclosed on that book's feature.
